Wat is carbonstaal? Omdat ik carbon en gereedschap staal gebruik, hebben deze wel een beetje onderhoud nodig Carbon staal is een legering van ijzer en carbon, het carbon zorgt dat het staal hard baar is. Hoe hoger het carbon percentage hoe harder je het mes kan harden. Het heeft over het algemeen een fijnere structuur, waardoor het fijner kan geslepen worden wat het mes ook scherper maakt, dan een roestvrij stalen mes (roestvrij staal = staal met meer dan 11% chromium)

The higher the carbon percentage, the harder you can harden the knife. It generally has a finer structure, which means it can be sharpened more finely, which also makes the knife sharper than a stainless steel knife (stainless steel = steel with more than 11% chromium)

Recently i see this question pop up . i want to make knives but i dont have the money for all the machienes .No problem you can start the same way as i and others dith. Whit same basic metal working tools. When i made my first knife i only had a bar clamp hacksaw and a file. Even whit these tools i made somthing that cuts. But it was not easy the bar clamp came lose all the thime. Becouse i did not had a dril so i had to use a rope for a handle. So what tools i recomend to start making knives ?...
